We, Antonia Troth and Kathryn Rodbert met at the school gate and had many a discussion about setting up a cooking related business. We decided that after working for years in various aspects of catering and hospitality, to set up an on-line deli from home in a small village in West Sussex. We cooked and delivered food orders to homes, local farm shops and village shops in between looking after our children. This led to party catering and then to opening Madeleine's Deli in our local market town of Petersfield in the glorious South Downs National Park. The deli with it's two small tables proved so popular we had to move to larger premises and then opened The Bakehouse - our production kitchen in the nearby village of Steep Marsh.
Along the way we have been incredibly fortunate to be joined by an amazing team and here we all are!
MEET THE TEAM
Alex is a mover and get's things done - a whizz in the kitchen who we rely on to produce amazing food and is also handy with a toolkit. A trained chef she has been with us from day one. Always enthusiastic, she keeps a step ahead and thinks strategically about what we need and how to do it. Loves travel, music, food, festivals & gin.
Having retired after a career in technology, we are very happy that Andrew has joined us! A food enthusiast and a hit with the customers, he works part time in the Deli and crams the rest of his time with a first grandchild, reading, walking, travelling, the golden age of film noir, a lot of eating and passionate supporting of cricket and football.

An amazing baker and the "Heston" of the Bakehouse - bravely trying out new recipes and improving old ones. Mumsy and nurturing, we can always rely on Claire for advice on our ailments and to keep a tranquil head. Loves walking in the Downs, picnics on the beach and a good fish & chip supper
Debbie is a great cook and we are lucky to have had her in the kitchen from the start. She was instrumental in devising the recipes we are still using like our most delicious vegetarian scotch eggs. A very busy person, she is qualified to teach yoga, scuba and forest school. Keeps chickens and grows her own vegetables.
Gabby works in in the deli part time as she is still very busy at school. Bright as a button and lovely to work with she has fitted in quickly. A keen netballer and runner she also loves reading and walking her dog who is a border collie dog and needs a lot of exercise! Loves going to the cinema with friends and Italian food especially pasta.
Flora has been working for us in the Deli part time and has proved delightful to work with and excellent with our customers. Another artist, she is also heading off to art school in September but hope she will manage to help us out on occasion. She loves exhibitions, theatre and playing tennis.
Jess's impressive organisational skills ensure all elements of the Deli, Cafe & Pantry come together and run smoothly. A true grafter, she keeps a cool head when it all goes a bit crazy and the customers really do come first. Loves cycling and walking with her beautiful dog and lovely fireman partner Toby!

She loves books, films, chocolate, her cat and would like to enjoy exercise.
Sarah's years of experience have proved invaluable and she has transformed our Deli kitchen into the most efficient and organised space whilst producing the most delicious food.
